Why a professional CV writer in the UAE
Most CVs are rejected before a human reads them
A popular vacancy in Dubai can attract hundreds of applications within days, and applicant tracking systems sort many of them before a recruiter looks. We write for both readers: the software first, then the person.
Built to pass ATS filters
Written for a quick scan
Tuned to the GCC market

UAE & GCC CV format
What a UAE CV should include — and how it differs from a Western CV
Gulf CVs carry a few personal details that UK or US recruiters would not expect. These are common regional practice, not legal requirements, and the market is moving towards more neutral CVs.
| Detail | Common in UAE / GCC | Typical in UK / US | Our advice |
|---|---|---|---|
| Photo | Common, especially for client-facing roles. | Usually left out in the UK and US. | Optional. If included, a business-style headshot only. |
| Nationality | Often listed, because it can affect visa processing and hiring cost. | Rarely included. | Your choice; we place it in the contact line, not the headline. |
| Visa status | Frequently stated (for example, "UAE residence visa" or "own sponsorship"). | Stated only as "right to work". | Useful if you are already in the UAE, as it signals a faster start. |
| Notice period | Commonly stated, as notice under UAE labour law runs from 30 to 90 days. | Usually discussed at interview. | State it briefly if it is short; otherwise leave it for the conversation. |
| Date of birth & marital status | Still seen on older Gulf CVs. | Not included. | We generally recommend leaving these out unless an employer specifically asks. |
| Languages & driving licence | Valued — Arabic and other regional languages are an advantage; a UAE licence matters for field roles. | Listed if relevant. | Include with honest proficiency levels. |
A balanced view on personal details
Article 4 of the UAE Labour Law (Federal Decree-Law No. 33 of 2021) prohibits employment discrimination on grounds including race, colour, sex, religion, national or social origin and disability. Many employers now focus purely on skills and experience. You are never obliged to share a photo, age or marital status, and we will not add them unless you want to. Read the UAE Government guidance on workers' rights.
Applying from outside the UAE?
State your current location, your availability and that you are open to relocation, so a recruiter does not have to guess. If you are weighing an offer, compare it with living costs in our UAE relocation calculator, and see our relocation support for professionals moving to Dubai.

ATS friendly CV checklist
ATS formatting do's and don'ts for UAE applications
Use this checklist whether you write your own CV or hire us. It reflects how the applicant tracking systems common in the UAE read and rank applications.
Do
- Use a single-column layout with standard headings: Summary, Experience, Education, Skills
- Save as .docx or a text-based PDF, unless the advert asks for a specific format
- Mirror the exact job titles and skills in the advert, where they are true for you
- Write dates consistently (for example, Mar 2021 – Present)
- Spell out acronyms once: Wage Protection System (WPS), SAP MM
- Keep it to two pages, or three for a senior executive CV
Don't
- Put text in headers, footers, text boxes or images — many systems skip them
- Use skill bars, star ratings or charts; they carry no readable data
- Use tables or multiple columns for your work history
- Invent headings such as "My Journey" instead of "Experience"
- Paste in keywords you cannot back up — recruiters check in interviews
- Include passport numbers, Emirates ID numbers or salary slips
